Call Minutes

UC/UBC Ad Hoc Committee
Members of the UC/UBC Ad Hoc Committee have been identified. The group now has a charge and will be holding a series of conference calls beginning on August 18 to discuss alternatives to the Ex Libris product. Randy explained that they are focusing on two possibilities: Illiad and Odyssey combined with the Ex Libris product or joining the Union Catalog with VDX. SAC discussed some of the pros and cons of the options. Barbara also spoke about the changing roles and environment of the university centers.
Revision of SUNYConnect
Document
SAC members referred to the minutes of the last conference call of July 20. They noted that the Working Group which was formed to revise the SUNYConnect Document had not yet met. The group consists of Randy, Barbara, Tim, Janet, Judy and Nancy. Members agreed to schedule a conference call soon.
SCAC Business Sources
Carey mentioned that he had sent out a document about the activities of SCAC. He said that John Schumacher will be heading a group in October. He explained that the contract should originate through OGS or Nylink. A charge regarding these activities will be formulated soon.
Presentation for
Trustees
Carey reported that the prototype for the presentation to the Trustees in November is progressing smoothly. He said that there are two options: Universal borrowing or use of an SFX type link going to the Illiad server. He said that he will have a better idea by September.
Matching Funds Proposal
Carey explained that he has talked with the SUNY Business Office about the inflation formulas for libraries. He said he is going through the statistics to determine library losses. He suggested that someone from the Business Office participate by phone during the next SAC meeting. He also spoke of the types of proposals which could be presented to the Provost in the future.
SUNY Student Assembly
