Subject: SAC Minutes Date: Tue, 1 Jun 1999 13:24:58 -0400 From: Frank Mols Reply-To: SUNY Librarians Association To: Multiple recipients of list SUNYLA-L SAC Meeting May 25, 1999 Summary Peter Genovese who is representing the community colleges was welcomed to the Council. 1. Minutes: The minutes of the April 20, 1999 meeting were approved. 2. Bylaws: Pam Peters, MacDonald Holmes and Laura Cohen were appointed to the Bylaws Committee. Pam Peters will be asked to serve as Chair. 3. SCLD Recommendations: Dan has not received recommendations from the Community Colleges, and Ag and Techs. Peter will follow up. 4. LMS Announcement: Regional meetings will be used to announce the decision and will provide an opportunity for face-to-face interaction with the members of SLAM about the system selected and the implementation process. 5. SLAM Update: The finalists are presenting demonstrations to the members of the evaluation team of SLAM. Carey will be meeting with SUN to discuss hardware configurations and costs. 6. LMS Update: The charge drafted by SLAM was accepted in principle and Larry Randall will become the project leader for planning the system implementation. 7. SUNYConnect Update: Larry Randall reported that he has notified the various lists of changes in dates for submittal, etc. for development of the web based information literacy course. The search to fill the Library Systems Implementation Specialist is proceeding and there are qualified candidates. 8. SUNYNet Update: Tom Neiss indicated he had not heard comments from SAC about the Network plan. He has hired a fourth analyst. Cortland and Oswego will move to a direct Internet connection. 9. Old Business: Carey announced that TCCC will be a test site for using the internet to access the LAIP system. The latest versions of WEB 2 and the Multilis software have been received and Carey hopes to have them in production by the beginning of the fall semester. Issues related to the selection of databases and the short time frame for making decisions were discussed. Larry Randall will put this on the agenda for the next SLICAT meeting. 10. New Business: Peter Genovese, Eleanor Heishman and Carey Hatch will work on specifics of a financial plan for SUNYConnect. 11.
