Workgroup Members:

Access Management

To successfully implement the Aleph 500 application within SUNY it will be necessary to bring together knowledgeable librarians and other staff to review options, establish standards, and provide operational guidance.

To accomplish this task the OLIS formed 2 Working Groups. It is anticipated that these Working Groups will be in place for a minimum of four years.

The Data Management Working Group will address such issues as:

Authority Control
Union Catalog (Overlap with Access Management Working Group)
Content
Government Documents
Metadata for E-Resources
Record consolidation
Indexing
Indexing (minimum Standards) (Overlap with Access Management Working Group)
Workflow recommendations
Resource files (Campus/Group/Union Catalog)
Remote Storage

The Access Management Working Group will address such issues as:

Remote borrowing policies
PAC Web design - for Union Catalog (optional for local interface)
Standards across catalogs
Web accessibility
Indexing for Union Catalog (overlap with Data Management Working Group)
Patron database
Authentication/Authorization
Linking with other systems (Z39.50)
ILL - Aleph to others
Document delivery (Nylink)
Union Catalog Content Selection (Overlap with Data Management Working Group)
Government Documents
Metadata for E-Resources
Non-SUNY data
Remote Storage

 

Each Working Group will be composed of representatives from the doctoral campuses, four year colleges and two year colleges (Special Colleges are grouped with four year and Colleges of Technology are grouped with two year).
