SUNYConnect-specific NetLibrary resource (360Core/360Link) established

Based on a request from a SUNYConnect library, a consortium-specific listing of NetLibrary titles has been established as part of the 360 Link knowledgebase.

Use the new entry - Netlibrary SUNYConnect “database” available via the Serials Solutions Client Center (Data Management) to define a set of link targets that are specific to the NetLibrary materials available to SUNYConnect libraries and their patrons.

The “SUNY Science Direct Titles” portion of the Serials Solutions knowledgebase has been updated with 3rd quarter 2009 Elsevier title changes (adds, deletes, etc.)

2156 ScienceDirect titles are tracked (this includes titles with open and closed holdings).  The goal is to provide the most accurate record of ScienceDirect titles accessible to SUNYConnect participants.

Please note that not every institution uses security controls (i.e. firewalls, proxies, filtering software, etc), which may require these changes.  If your institution uses these types of security controls for outbound access, please have your IT department review the details of this FAQ (http://support.ebsco.com/knowledge_base/detail.php?id=966) noting our new IP ranges, and make the necessary updates.

You’ll note that the file includes 3 worksheets for specific parts of 2008.  The vendor has indicated that they will send along first half of 2009 statistics as soon as they are available.

Free trial access has been established for Gale/Cengage’s GREENR resource ((Global Reference on the Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources http://www.gale.cengage.com/greenr/ )

The announcement (below) has gone out to the vendor’s list of SUNY library campus contacts.  EBSCO is providing this federated search tool to SUNYConnect at no additional charge for simultaneous searching of any EBSCO database, SUNYConnect resources as well as the SUNY union catalog.

(Your library can include other non-EBSCO databases and your local Aleph catalog for a fee.)

We have added an EBSCOhost Integrated Search profile (Profile ID: ehis) to your EBSCOadmin account. This is where your EBSCOhost Integrated Search (EHIS) account settings and external connectors reside. Your EBSCOhost Integrated Search (EHIS) account was setup using the databases provided to you by the SUNY consortia. If you would like to add any other EBSCOhost databases you might have to EhIS, you can do this in your EBSCOadmin account in the EBSCOhost Integrated Search Profile (ehis).

The SUNY consortia has also setup database Subject Groupings. These can also be modified in your EBSCOadmin account as well.
