From: Schumacher, J Sent: Friday, March 01, 2002 12:31 PM To: Initial Implementers - SUNYConnect LMS Cc: Schumacher, J Subject: [pilots] SUNYConnection #20 (pls.excuse duplicates) The SUNYConnection Issue # 20 March 1, 2002 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SUNYCONNECT LMS PROGRESS REPORT + Binghamton has successfully tested and implemented an interface from the ALEPH software to the Binghamton University's campus obligations system. + Test databases have been created for Broome, Cayuga, Cortland, Morrisville and Onondaga. + Group2 campuses are utilizing ALEPH "template" files created by the OLIS and Natalie Sturr (Oswego/OLIS). These files configure the ALEPH web opac, indexing and other system parameters. + Many of the pilot sites have loaded Ex Libris-provided serial publication pattern files. + Stony Brook is still scheduled to "STP" on March 28, 2002. + The second set of "Group2" libraries begin a series of ALEPH training classes next week. + OLIS, ITEC and SUNY Oswego met to discuss arrangements for additional SUNYConnect LMS server sites. SUNYCONNECT DATABASES / ELECTRONIC RESOURCES + The SUNYConnect Advisory Council has opted to not change the rate of increase for the campuses' annual Database Fee. This issue will be re-considered in August 2002. + Larry Randall gave a presentation on SUNYConnect Electronic Resources at the Annual Summit of SUNY Multimedia Instructional Designers (MIDs). ADDITIONAL SUNYCONNECT NEWS + Access to Ex Libris documentation and other resources needs to be password protected in some cases. The OLIS has developed a web "portal" site for these resources. Additional resources will be added to this site on an ongoing basis. Information about accessing this portal has been sent to the SUNY Library Directors' list. Natalie Sturr's useful web site of ALEPH resources is now available via OLIS' ALEPH500 Implementation Portal. http://www.sunyconnect.suny.edu/group2 + Ex Libris will be providing a demonstration of the SFX product during the SUNYConnect Advisory Council meeting. + The New York State Library's contract for statewide access to the Dialog@Carl resources has been extended to March 31, 2003.
