The ALEPH implementations are done, let the mini?! implementation begin. Actually, the process of migrating from ALEPH 14.2 to version 16 is now well underway.

SUNYConnect doesn't do things in a small way, and this project is no different. Behind the scenes implementation and training schedules are finalized, ALEPH "libraries" have been created, your web OPAC is or will be upgraded to v.16, training programs have been developed and delivered (with more to come), various ALEPH print products are being fitted to the v.16 software, migration of data, staff privileges are being verified. All of this and more is getting into place to try and streamline the process of any one SUNYConnect campus making the move to v.16.

As of the end of April:

  • extensive preliminary tasks affecting many campuses have been completed;
  • three sets of regional training sessions have been conducted;
  • the first three campuses have completed their upgrade (Alfred, Alfred University and Geneseo);

Twelve or more additional campuses are scheduled to complete the upgrade in the month of May. The upgrades are planned to be completed before the end of August.

Of course each campus has considerable effort in this regard as well. There is staff training, getting oriented to the new ALEPH staff interface, fine tuning your web OPAC, finalizing other customized print products and more. The OLIS has provided a v.16 portal which holds various useful resources, including:

  • a How to Prepare for the Version 16 Upgrade document
  • the upgrade schedule
  • access to the v.16 staff interface software
  • online training and orientation sessions
  • Ex Libris documentation
  • access to a training/test system
  • information about the v.16 OPAC and OLIS support services

Good luck to everyone involved in migrating to v.16 of the SUNYConnect LMS.
