"Don't judge a book by its cover," it's said. But, within this context, most would say "more information
is a good thing." How about an image of the cover, table of contents, first chapter, reviews and summary
information for the book?

These kind of enhancements to catalog records have been added to the SUNYConnect union catalog as well as to local SUNYConnect catalogs. Actually, a thumbnail image is in the catalog, and accessing those links retrieves the information from Syndetic Solutions via the network.

Take a look and let your S.A.C. representative know what you think. Some additional monies from System
Administration have paid for this service (via a Nylink contract) for the first year. An evaluation will be made about continuing the service in subsequent years. If continued, the service costs would likely be folded into a re-done SUNYConnect
financial model.

Table of Contents
More than 850,000 tables of contents cover a wide spectrum of publications from popular self-help books
to conference proceedings. Through special arrangements with Blackwell's Book Services, Book News, Inc., and Ingram Book Company, Syndetics' Tables of Contents cover more than 80,000 new publications each year from small press, trade, and U.S. and U.K. scholarly publishers, including many Spanish-language titles. Approximately 1,600 TOCs are added each week.

First Chapters
• More than 103,000 first chapters are available from prominently reviewed new titles, both fiction and non-fiction
• Approximately 2,000 new chapters are added each month
• Chapters are supplied to Syndetics from Dial-A-Book, Inc. and from selected publishers Book Reviews
• Over 720,000 book reviews are available from [8 prominent providers of book reviews for libraries]

Summaries
• More than 1,700,000 summaries and annotations
• Derived from book jackets, edited publisher copy, or independently written annotations from Book News, Inc.
• Covering fiction, non-fiction, and both trade and scholarly titles
