ALEPH v.18 Upgrade Update
Thanks to TAG (The ALEPH Group) at OLIS and ITEC
for all of their efforts upgrading the SUNYConnect
LMS to a subsequent version. Thanks, as well, to
system librarians and others on staff at SUNYConnect
institutions in testing and getting the new version
in place for their library communities.
Development systems have been made available to all
56 libraries. Production systems are in place for 38
campuses. The upgrade for the remaining 18 hosted
systems is scheduled to complete in mid-August.
The OLIS Documents area has a considerable amount of
information, documentation and training materal on
v.18 available.
SUNYConnect Financial Plan Revision
Proposed changes to the SUNYConnect Financial Plan
are being reviewed by SUNY library directors. The proposed revisions use the concept of core and optional
services.
Proposed core services are ALEPH licenses, electronic
resources (does not include ScienceDirect), LAND, book
cover images, etc. (Syndetic Solutions), authority
control, SUNY Digital Repository and NYSHEI. Optional
services include ALEPH hosting, ILLiad fees, and 360Link.
A survey is being used to gather input from the library
directors. More information is available at
http://www.sunyconnect.suny.edu/Revised_financial_plan_DRAFT_SAC_Survey_2008jun.pdf
A vote on the proposed revision is scheduled for the
SUNY Council of Library Directors' fall meeting.
OVRC
All of SUNYConnect continues to have access to the
Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. This is due to
the 45 SUNY libraries who have provided the subscription
dollars necessary to make this access possible. In
addition, those campus costs were discounted by 28%.
"SUNYergy" in action; thanks folks!
EBSCO Survey
The SUNY agreement with EBSCO for database access expires
at the end of June 2009. A survey has been created to
gather responses from the SUNY library community in regard
to these SUNYConnect electronic resources.
Information about the survey was distributed to the
library directors. What is sought is a consensus view
from each of the SUNYConnect libraries. Let us hear from
you.
SUNY/Elsevier Contract Working Group
