Via SUNYConnect governance, a timeline was established in January 2011 sketching out possible next steps for the SUNYConnect Initiative. Under the heading of "Planning with SCLD, SAC, SUNYLA" 2011 was designated to "determine vision - what services to investigate including discovery software"; for 2012 - "identify and implement a discovery tool?"

Some components of the timeline probably need to be reviewed again in the context of a revised SUNYConnect committee structure. And, some SUNY libraries have progressed on their own in implementing or beginning to implement a discovery system.

In the context of investigation, the following partial listing of resources and reviews of discovery systems is presented:
