SUNY Maritime is one example of the variety and speciality that makes up the State University of New York. With Fort Schuyler as the setting and our charming hosts, Maritime also made for a fine SUNYLA 2007 location.

Thanks to conference planners, organizers, staff, presenters and speakers for all of your efforts related to the conference. Just a few highlights from the event will be described here.

One was the final steps instituting the Library Software Users Group (LiSUG, formerly the SUNY ALEPH Users Group) as part of SUNYLA. Andy Perry (New Paltz) is the convener of that group. And, they are planning a conference on October 5, 2007 in Cobleskill.

The OLIS was well represented at SUNYLA 2007. Conference programs included "Navigating your OPAC with Astrolabe and MARC" (pre-conference program by Maggie Horn), "All Hands On Deck! Working together Towards Equity" (panel included SUNYLA-UUP Liaison John Schumacher), "Aleph Printed Products: Basics and Beyond" (Karen Gardner-Athey and Natalie Sturr), "Navigating our Future: SUNYConnect II Creates a new Chart" (Carey Hatch, John Schumacher, Maureen Zajkowski).

Stories abound from the conference's special events. Ask folks in the know about the torch light tour of the fort. Sounds from various firearms resounded into the night. Many enjoyed the unique views of Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty from the sunset cruise.

At the business meeting, Joseph Petrick (Alfred) took over as SUNYLA President from Marc Wildman (Cortland). We also heard of initial plans for SUNYLA 2008 in Potsdam. From Throggs Neck to the woods of the great North Country, the wide expanse of SUNY is revealed. See everybody next year in Saint Lawrence County.
