Ed Rivenburgh Honored by ALA
Congratulations are in order for Ed Rivenburgh (Project
Director, Information Delivery Services
retired from SUNY Geneseo). Ed is the recently announced winner of the 2011 Virginia Boucher/OCLC
Distinguished ILL Librarian Award (from ALA's Reference
and User Services Division). The award "recognizes an
individual for outstanding professional achievement,
leadership and significant contributions to the fields
of interlibrary loan and document delivery."
"Rivenburgh was selected for his excellent leadershipof the IDS Project, a resource sharing cooperative ...
[that] is fundamentally changing how ILL processing
and resource sharing is done."
Stephen B. Luce Library (Maritime) Honored
The library at SUNY Maritime has been named one of
the "Great Libraries of the World". The designation,
by American Libraries is in part for Stephen B. Luce
Library's collection strengths in marine engineering,
naval architecture, marine transportation, nautical
charts, oceanography, transportation economics and
management, and meteorology.
The designation "showcases 250 libraries around the world
that are notable for their exquisite architecture,
historic collections, and innovative services."
SUNY Librarians Receive ACRL Award
Michelle Costello and Kimberly Davies Hoffman (Geneseo) have
been designated as the 2011Association of College and
Research Libraries (ACRL) Instruction Section (IS)
Innovation award winners. They are being honored for
their work on the Library Instruction Leadership Academy. "LILAC is truly an innovative contribution to advancing
pedagogy in information literacy and instruction
librarianship.” Congratulations Michelle and Kim!
The winners also gave credit to their SUNY colleagues
involved in LILAC - Justina Elmore (Geneseo), Lisa
Forrest (Buffalo State), Nicki Lerczak (Genesee CC),
Jennifer Little (Brockport), Nicole Menarchem (Geneseo)
Logan Rath (Brockport), Alice Wilson (Monroe CC),
Barbara Kobritz(TC3), Dana Longley (Empire State),

RRLC's Academic Library of the Year
The Rochester Regional Library Council’s 2011 Academic
Library of the Year is LeRoy V. Good Library at Monroe
Community College. The statement, "this library has been of great value in my academic pursuits," was one of the nominating statements RRLC received.
