link to SUNYergyOpen Access Week 2011 is October 24-30. The October 2010 issue of SUNYergy placed a focus onopen access, OA activities, and scholarly communication efforts around SUNY and SUNY libraries. This approach continues with this October issue.

Open Access Week is used as a starting point for discussion on scholarly communication issues in general. How are current and future publishing innovations changing the work of our faculty and students? And, how do these changes create new opportunities and challenges for our libraries and library colleagues?link to Brockport library

We hear from Albany about Open Access week activities there. Buffalo is hosting a conference in November related to research data management plans and the National Science Foundation mandate to include such a plan in grant proposals. Learn about Brockport's efforts to provide a consolidated online view of their faculty's publications. Binghamton was featured in a webinar related to preservation in the agelink to FACT2 of the digital library. FACT2 (Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching and Technology) initiatives and task force activity related to electronic textbooks, open educational resources and electronic publishing are also discussed.
